Subject: Reaffirmation of Commitment to Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action
The University is committed to creating a University environment that is accessible and supportive of all who learn and work here. Each year, the University affirms its commitment to ensuring equal opportunity in education, employment, and participation in University sponsored activities without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
The University’s Affirmative Action Plan supports the University’s efforts to promote equal opportunity by documenting systematic and comprehensive strategies to promote access, equity, and opportunity for women, members of underrepresented groups, veterans, and individuals with disabilities. These efforts may include expanded efforts in outreach, recruitment, training, mentoring, and other activities designed to increase the pool of qualified minorities and females available for job opportunities.
The Office of Institutional Equity is responsible for interpreting and monitoring the University’s compliance with equal opportunity and affirmative action laws. More information about the University’s equal opportunity and affirmative action policies and procedures is located on the Office of Institutional Equity’s website at www.equity.arizona.edu.
As President, I affirm my personal commitment to the University’s equal opportunity policy and affirmative action program. I expect that all members of the University community will ensure that nondiscriminatory practices are followed and upheld at the University of Arizona.
Creating a community that is accessible, diverse, and inclusive is essential for our students, faculty and staff to achieve their full potential. Only then can we achieve our strategic goals of expanding access and enhancing educational excellence.
