Policies & Procedures

The Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) advances the University of Arizona’s shared values of inclusion and equity and leads efforts to uphold policies that prohibit discriminatory conduct and treatment in our community.

OIE acts to ensure equal opportunity and to safeguard the civil rights of university community members. Our commitment is demonstrated in a variety of ways including through application of University policies and accompanying procedures. OIE is responsible for reviewing and, where appropriate, objectively investigating complaints of discrimination and harassment in accordance with the Nondiscrimination and Anti-harassment Policy and objectively addressing and investigating complaints of sex discrimination and sexual harassment (including sexual misconduct) against students.

Policies

Nondiscrimination and
Anti-harassment Policy

The University of Arizona is committed to creating and maintaining an environment free of discrimination. In support of this commitment, the University prohibits discrimination, including harassment and retaliation, based on a protected classification, including race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or genetic information.

Religious Accommodation Policy

The University of Arizona requires its administrators and faculty to reasonably accommodate the religious needs, observances, and practices of their employees and students upon request. An individual’s request for reasonable religious accommodations, including requests for time off from work or school activities, is justified unless University operations would suffer unduly by granting the individual’s request.
